What that Spanish ad was all about
Thanks to reader Ariana, we now have a translation of the promo for the Spanish broadcast of Brothers & Sisters posted yesterday:
No vas a los cumpleaños,
You don’t go to their birthdays,Ni te presentas en Navidad.
Nor you show up for Christmas. No les reservas tus vacaciónes,
You don’t plan to spend your vacations with them,Pasas de ir a las bodas.
Pass on going to their weddings.Pero un día ocurre algo,
But one day something happens,Y hasta las mejores familias
and even the best familiestienen que aguantar unidas.
have to stand together. The rest is just saying the actors’ names and the channel and time it’s going to be shown.
And now I’m even more confused than I was when I didn’t know what it said, because … does this sound like the Walker family we know and love? I’m thinking they were all up in each other’s business way before William keeled into the pool, and if anything they’ve been standing a little less together since. But all that really means, I guess, is that promos in other countries are every bit as misleading as the promos here in the U.S. False advertising — the international language!
