They’re engaged! Or not.

There’s a lot of gossip going around that Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford got engaged on April Fool’s Day. And maybe that date should be a tip-off, because reps for both actors have denied that it’s true. But why should some wet-blanket official statement deny us the fun of believing tabloid reports, especially when the story is so cute?
According to a report in Grazia that’s been picked up by just about every gossip outlet from here to China, based on intelligence from an alleged “friend,” Ford “coached [Flockhart's son] Liam to run up to Calista and give her a rehearsed message - ‘Mr Ford is going to be my daddy.’ Calista just laughed but it was no joke. Harrison then told her he wanted to marry her. She’s thrilled about the proposal and so is Liam.”
So what’s the deal here. Did Calista say no? Was Harrison just playing an April Fool’s joke that got blown out of proportion? Did he see his name there at #4 on Forbes’s list of Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces and remember why he never wanted to get married again? Was the whole thing just made up to move gossip? Or is this one of those stories that will be denied right up to the point at which it’s officially announced?
Time will tell, I suppose. But if it gets Brothers & Sisters’ name in the paper, no publicity is bad publicity.
