Rob Lowe’s worst Oscar night ever
As we mourn the missing of a Brothers & Sisters episode tonight due to the Oscars, let us reflect on the Oscar night humiliation of one of our beloved cast members. No, it’s not Sally Field’s “You like me, you really like me” speech; although that has certainly lived in infamy, it can’t even come close to the utter craptacularness of the opening number of the 1989 Oscars, featuring Snow White and our own Senator Robert McCallister — Rob Lowe. You might have thought that Lowe would have hunted down and burned all evidence of that misbegotten mess by now, but nope, it’s popped up on YouTube, and is here now for your wincing pleasure. The thing’s quite memorably ghastly from beginning to end, but if you want to fast-forward to Lowe’s nightmare, it starts about five minutes in. If nothing else, it will make whatever appalling nonsense they put on the stage tonight look entertaining by comparison.
