Retcon Patrol 1-18: “Three Parties” Part 3

by Terri

Today we continue our search for inconsistent or comment-worthy moments in the Brothers & Sisters first season with a look at the third and final part of Episode 18. Read Part 1 and Part 2 if you need to catch up, then dive right in here with Part 3.

25:45
Nora asks of Emily, “Why do I even listen to you?” A good question, after listening to her the last time got them arrested.

26:44
Party Number 2. And here’s another scene I feel like fast-forwarding through, with Nora being humiliated in front of the faculty folks for letting Emily get in her head. Let’s just get back to Castroville and the artiritas, can’t we?

27:21
And here we are, with Drunk and Drunker heading to Party Number 3 for their own humiliation. But at least they’re fully clothed.

27:25
The mutual lipsticking thing is pretty cute. I bet somebody who has a sister put in that bit of business.

28:02
Sarah may be embarrassed to be at a Sesame Street party, and annoyed to be called a cougar, but that doesn’t mean she’ll turn down a beer.

33:18
Does being the only guy in the room who’s sober give Justin an advantage in this party fight?

34:38
Kevin gets the old brush-off again. And goes off into the night to wrestle some more with his fear of commitment.

31:28
No artichoke beer at the kegger, but artichoke shots! I think Sarah should just move here.

32:14
Ooh! Ooh! It’s the scene in the kitchen when Nora comes home in her Emily-altered dress. This is a scene on which I do not want to run the fast-forward. Just the repeat button.

33:50
Gotta love the little fist bump at the end when Kevin and Justin celebrate Mom making scrambled eggs and English muffins for them. These guys are still, at heart, 10.

35:51
McCallister sure is the man of 1,000 inspirational stories, isn’t he?

37:01
William falling into the pool makes it into Nora’s fiction. Or is it Gilliam?

37:05
Boy, I want to be in one of these writing classes where people applaud when you’re done.

38:50
The “Is that what they’re calling it nowadays?” line gets another workout, as Nora throws it at Mark for saying he’s going to teach Juliet to write a coherent sentence.

39:13
So was the entire class listening in on this little hallway argument/flirtation? And if not, what’s the matter with them? Fodder for fiction here!

39:20
Robert knows Kitty and her family well enough by now, does he even have to ask if she tried the artirita?

41:10
Closed-captioning informs that it’s Jet with “Shine On” playing over Robert’s admission that he’s not so much of a hero.

41:24
Trivia note: Robert’s middle name is Alexander.

This concludes our look at Episode 18. Coming up next for Retcon Patrol: “Game Night.”
