Retcon Patrol 1-13: “Something Ida This Way Comes” Part 5

Today we conclude our search for inconsistent or comment-worthy moments in the Brothers & Sisters first season with a look at the fifth and final part of Episode 13. Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4 if you need to catch up, then dive right in here with Part 5.
31:43
Funny scene here with Tommy, Kevin, and Sarah drinking in the closet. But have they never had opportunity to observe how hard Grandma is on Mom? I’d imagine Ida was like that whenever they got together.
32:20
Poor Justin. Not only is he unable to drink with the family, or hold on to a girlfriend, but he missed all the family drama. Might have wanted to ask his Grandma why she though he was the gay one.
34:18
Given the way this visit has turned out, I think Nora should probably be glad Mom didn’t come to the funeral. A simple “thank you” would suffice, girl.
35:36
Aw, the scene of mother-daughter reconciliation ends with a little twist of the knife — that if Saul didn’t call Ida, she’d never hear from either one of them. I think Nora picked up that move.
35:54
Ida makes a big deal of putting a handkerchief over her eyes, but shouldn’t she also, like, turn off the light and close the door?
41:28
Nora’s all smiles now as she blows out the candles. Happy that it’s not store-bought white coconut cake, no doubt.
41:58
Kevin describes the party as “this huge family meltdown, only really fun.” Which also describes this show at its best.
37:01
Chad already knows that McCallister’s brother is gay, and says Jason cruised him once at the gym. Now that we’ve met Jason, I’d have to say this is a little Chad self-delusion.
39:14
You know, I’m noticing this phone in Nora’s kitchen for the first time, and it’s one of those phones with an extremely long cord, and I’m wondering — does anybody still have phones like that? I’ve certainly had them in the past, but wouldn’t someone with every possible kitchen gadget have a nice simple cordless phone there?
39:10
Saul says Ida is headed back to the desert with the rest of the scorpions. Which desert would that be? Does she live in Arizona, too, with the Ridges and the Wandells? Popular spot.
40:16
I think the closed-captioning has been slipping in announcing song titles in this episode, or else I’ve just missed the second they flashed by, but this one I saw: D.B. Clifford’s “Simple Things” accompanies mass sibling flu suffering.
40:25
Kitty says their mutual illness is Sarah’s fault. But really, shouldn’t they be blaming it on Cooper?
41:27
… And, he brings soup when you’re sick! Robert’s bachelor stock just keeps rising.
That’s five days of catch-up on Episode 13. Next up for Retcon Patrol: “Valentine’s Day Massacre”

***Now that we’ve met Jason, I’d have to say this is a little Chad self-delusion.***
I’m not sure. I can imagine Jason liking Chad on first glance. He is attractive and why wouldn’t Jason like him….
I wonder if he would have STAYED with Chad, once he got to know him better, but there’s no reason for Jason not to like him at first sight.
Anyway, Chad/Jason gave me some nice fanfic, so I’m not complaining about the thought.

I love the drama of the Walker Family! I have missed it all summer and can’t wait for the season premiere. I can’t wait to get back to watching Jason’s drama. If anyone wants to watch a video I found you can check it out at:

Jason’s drama? I doubt we will see much of that.

Sylviane, you are so right… Jason never has any drama. So sorry. LOL. And Danny C, thank you so much for the link. I checked it out and it was awesome. Count down to season premiere!!!
