Retcon Patrol 1-11: “Family Day” Part 5

Today we conclude our search for inconsistent or comment-worthy moments in the Brothers & Sisters first season with a look at the fifth and final part of Episode 11. Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4 if you need to catch up, then dive right in here with Part 5.
32:31
Kitty promises Kevin that she’ll argue with McCallister every time he’s wrong. I remember her arguing with him that he should exploit his war record, fight with his lying ex-wife, and not run for VP … did she ever argue with him on issues?
32:57
Joe tells Gabe sternly that in this house, Sarah is his mother. For another season or so, anyway.
33:10
The mug Sarah is drinking from in this second Confront Gabe scene looks like the same mug Kitty was just drinking from, except tan instead of green and maybe a little smaller.
34:13
Nora’s desk, which she is now packing up, looks like it’s bobbed back to where it was in the first office scene, off to the side and not directly facing Holly’s. No doubt the cleaning people have been pushing stuff around.
35:01
Holly says you always want what you can’t have and Nora responds “Isn’t that funny. I never did.” I think Nora’s a lot more effective with the snappy put-downs of Holly than Sarah is, maybe because Holly’s more vulnerable around Nora. Or because Nora acts nice and friendly before sticking the knife in, whereas Sarah’s pretty consistently hostile.
35:48
And again, responding to Holly’s “Maybe we’ll be friends some day” with “Maybe. But not today.” Nora can be a ridiculous ditherer, but she’s sharp when she wants to be.
37:09
On the other hand, she does support Holly’s vineyard idea, so it’s clear her feelings are just personal, nothing business.
38:59
First mention of Jason, and first idea in Kitty’s head to set him up with Kevin. And come to think of it, why is Kitty surprised? Jason was supposedly outed during a campaign. Wouldn’t the senator’s gay brother be common knowledge? I guess Kitty’s been out of town and may have missed it, but it seems like it might have come up in her pre-interview research on the guy.
39:45
Kitty always seems to have a magazine with her at these Justin therapy sessions. It’s not good etiquette to be reading while other people are spilling their guts, is it?
40:26
Justin says his family had a bad day yesterday, but that’s not who they are. First question: They’re having these meetings every day? Wouldn’t it more likely be once a week? And second question: If that’s not who they are, who are they? It’s not all they are, but squabbling is surely a major part of their family dynamic.
41:02
So glad they broke into a family montage, because I was feeling sorry for Dave Annable having to hold that grin for the whole tape.
And that’s five days of catch-up on Episode 11. Next up for Retcon Patrol: “Sexual Politics.”
