Retcon Patrol 1-10: “Light the Lights” Part 3

by Terri

Today we continue our search for inconsistent or comment-worthy moments in the Brothers & Sisters first season with a look at the third part of Episode 10. Read Part 1 and Part 2 if you need to catch up, then dive right in here with Part 3.

14:46
Justin looks pretty good in a suit. I guess the only other time we’ve seen him in one was the funeral?

16:05
Sarah doesn’t think righteous indignation is the way for Holly to go now. But I think Holly has every right to it. Have I mentioned how much I hate this trying-to-screw-Holly plot?

16:12
Sarah says a few months is an affair, twenty years is a career. I don’t think snide humor is the way for you to go now, Sarah.

16:44
Holly tells Sarah to never say Rebecca’s name again. Oh, if only.

17:04
This whole courtroom business with Justin being questioned by Kevin and now Army guy just seems so Law & Order to me. Would they really have a trial like this?

17:27
Army guy says that as an Army medic, Justin would have had access to a smorgasbord of narcotics. The Army should probably use that in their recruiting materials.

18:13
Army guy says that the discipline of the military is what kept Justin off drugs. I’d say it was probably the fact that for the first time in his life, something was expected of him.

19:08
As they discuss their various deceptions, Holly says her feelings for Saul were real, and he insists his were, too … except, maybe, as it turns out, not so much.

19:31
And again with my complaints about William’s brilliant plan. Might he not have anticipated the sort of awkwardness that’s going on here? Though he may have felt he had to keep his plan from his family, he could have told Holly and given her some instructions as to his wishes, or written her a letter or something. Seems he just created a big mess to pit his heirs against one another. Way to go, big guy!

19:45
Now that Nora knows Paige’s spiritual crisis is all about whose diabetes God cures faster, why exactly does she think reading the Book of Maccabees is going to help?

20:24
If knowledge is light, Paige is getting a big old spotlight on the fact that you don’t want to get Grandma going about religion, hoo boy.

20:54
Sarah’s hoping Holly’s share of the land is the last surprise. Ha! William probably hocked some other part of Ojai and put it in a safe-deposit box with Ryan’s name on it.

Continue on to Part 4.

  1. Scott Says:

I love Sarah because she’s human. So however “right” she may have been regarding Holly, I understood where she was coming from. This is a woman who has caused her family great pain, and seemingly won’t leave their lives (thanks in large part to their equally lousy father).

And, the “20 years is a career” is one of my favorite lines from Season 1. ;)
