Retcon Patrol: 1-02 “An Act of Will” Part 3

Today we continue our look for inconsistent or comment-worthy moments in the Brothers & Sisters first season with a look at the third part of Episode 2. Read Part 1 and Part 2 if you need to catch up, then dive right in here with Part 3.
26:17
Noah: “You have no idea what families can survive.” But Sarah, you’re soon going to find out.
27:25
Noah wants to know that Sarah misses him, or at least whatever flirty but not specifically improper sort of work relationship they had. Oh, Noah, I miss you. Does that count?
27:40
Sarah assures Noah she’ll call … but does she ever? I’m thinking this is the last we saw of the guy. Until some future season, when he comes back to finally have that romance that was so tantalizingly under the surface here. Right? Right?
28:33
Kitty calls Nora on Justin’s screwed-up-ness being possibly her fault. Ya think?
29:02
Sarah at the party store. This scene breaks my heart every time. I really liked the way Sarah was set up as someone who was struggling to balance her work and home life, and that sort of slipped away as Season One wore on and she became unhinged by Holly, and by her failing marriage. The working mom thing recurred with “Domestic Issues” in Season Two, but only briefly. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten much of an explanation on how Sarah’s juggling that joint custody with her still-crazy job, when she relied on Joe for childcare before. And grass-skirt buying.
29:46
Grass skirts are “weirdly popular,” according to the teenage store clerk. He looks like he wandered in from some teen comedy. In a good way.
31:01
Oh, Nora, you trash Kitty, then you use her celebrity to get Justin out of jail. Bad mom. Bad!
31:36
“Kevin always does the right thing, except sleep with women.” Gads, is that an awkward line. Is that something even drunk Justin would say? I feel like we’re getting hit over the head with the baseball bat of gayness. Yes! We get it! He’s gay! We know what that means! Enough already!
31:48
Nora yelling at Justin seems to be completely over the top here, and just ugly. She’s been making excuses for him all over the place and now, all of a sudden, on the lawn outside a jail, at the top of her lungs, she’s calling him out? It just seems entirely out of character to me. The confrontation at the end of “36 Hours” was more like it, and felt like the first time she’d held him responsible for anything. I’m just going to forget this entirely awkward interaction ever happened. Not the finest acting hour for Sally Field and Dave Annable, either, I’m afraid.
32:03
Justin: “You know what love means in this family? It means you suck! It means nothing you do is ever good enough!” Hey, it’s another contender for family motto!
