Peering into Justin’s future

A USA Today article sheds some more light on when, and in what shape, Justin Walker will return from service in Iraq. The good news is, we won’t have to wait long to find out: Justin will return in one of the season’s opening episodes. The bad news? He’s going to have some physical challenges. “‘You’ll have to see the condition he comes back in,’ teases [show creator Jon Robin] Baitz, confirming only that Justin will not return an amputee. ‘Justin will have physical issues to deal with, and the question becomes: How does he re-integrate into American life?’”
According to the article, even Dave Annable doesn’t know what disability he’ll be portraying, saying, “‘I’m excited. I just wish I knew what it was, so I could do some research.’”
The article goes on to discuss the importance of depicting the war to the show’s creators and actors, and ends with a testimony to Annable’s adorableness. Says Baitz: “Dave unfailingly cheers people up. … He’s an endless hugger who just can’t be stopped. It’s sort of like having a very large, enthusiastic brown Labrador retriever puppy on the set.” A video accompanying the story shows Annable frolicking with dolphins, and just see if it doesn’t cheer you up, too.
