News from the “Home Front”
Speaking of an overabundance of blogs, there’s one more source of backstage chatter on Brothers & Sisters debuting today: a weekly video interview featuring the writers of the just-aired episode. This week’s edition, available on ABC.com and also TVGuide.com, gives us writers Alison Schapker and Monica Breen talking about their work on “Home Front.” No astounding scoops or anything, but if you’re a B&S completist, you’ll want to check it out.
Another little piece of “Home Front” news: The episode won its time slot last night! According to TVGuide.com, “At 10, the champ was Brothers & Sisters (with 13.3 mil, down 17 percent from its series debut), followed by football and then Shark.” Do we count this as unadulterated good news, or do we worry about that 17 percent drop, or the drop from Desperate Housewives’ 19 million? Advise me in the comments.

Hi Terri,
The ratings were very good. B&S pulled in 13.3 million viewers (and a 5.1 share in the 18-49 demo). These are its best numbers since last November Sweeps. The episodes in the spring pulled in 11-12 million viewers, for example.
Comparing it to last year’s season premiere is rather inapt, since Patriarchy was an outlier (16 million, whereas the season average was 11).

Thanks, Scott. I can go back to jumping up and down and clapping my hands now.

Good news! Good news! I looked at IMDb and didn’t see any news about it, but I guess I can always count on trusty Terry. Let’s face it, B&S hasn’t had the craze that DH first induced when it showed up, and it’s not as popular (at least for now, to stay positive!), so the drop-off is to be expected. And a pilot is always going to generate extra interest, so it’s difficult to make that comparison. Hooray for our Walkers!
