Love Interest Check-Up: Kevin
Was a time, not so long ago, when we’d be visiting Scotty in a round-up of Kevin’s failed relationships. He’s the only one who’s ever made it back from the Land of Lost Love Interests, and perhaps he’s left some breadcrumbs along the way so that, say, Noah and David can follow him out. Meanwhile, the series of check-ups on Kevin’s branch of the Walker family continues with the ones that got away (and in the case of one, should stay away):
Chad
Soap star Chad had an alleged girlfriend when he and Kevin met at the gym, but that didn’t stop him from taking Kevin to Makeout Point, or dating the guy on the sly. Kevin got to do some of the “more out than thou” routine he had previously gotten himself from Scotty, but when Chad did finally emerge from the closet, he left his relationship with Kevin behind, too. Prognosis: If Chad’s still friendly with the alleged girlfriend, who was a friend of Scotty’s, it’s not impossible that he could one day reappear in a social setting of some sort. But man, let’s hope not. I thought he was pretty insufferable, and certainly did not bring out the best in Kevin.
Jason
We already checked in with Jason as a part of Kitty and Robert’s family tree, but he’s been a big part of Kevin’s plotline, too. Not as big a part as some of us would have liked, of course. Prognosis: Jason’s role as Kevin’s brother-in-law’s brother gives him a ticket out of the Land of Lost Love Interests, so we should see him from time to time. If Scotty ever lifts the “never talk to him” edict, maybe Kevin can find out more about the Malaysian black-magic curse that left Jason unable to call his boyfriend, or to criticize his brother.
The Flying Monkey
Surely Kevin has been doing something all these years besides working and tending to family, but the only old boyfriends we’ve heard about have been the guy who played a flying monkey in Wicked, and the guy whose picture was in Kevin’s office. Maybe the same guy, come to think of it. Prognosis: The flying monkey is good for a running joke and not much else, but it might be fun to see him across the room at Karaoke Night, if only to see if he’s as pretty as the guys Kevin dates now.

“If Scotty ever lifts the “never talk to himâ€? edict,…”
Scotty just doesn’t want Kevin to ‘make plans’ with Jason, which is not the same as a ‘never talk’ edict. I think that with a little effort from Kevin, Scotty will soon have enough faith in K/S to let go of that edict. Personally, at such an early state in a re-kindled relationship that was already rocky to begin with and broken twice, I’d be demanding the same.
“…maybe Kevin can find out more about the Malaysian black-magic curse that left Jason unable to call his boyfriend, or to criticize his brother.”
)
I sure hope so too. Maybe one of Scotty’s ‘bohemian’ friends could be a voodoo expert and give us back the old Jason (as long as he stays away from the love between K/S, otherwise I’ll be casting some black witchcraft of my own
Now that you mention it, I never wondered if ‘the flying monkey’ could be the same as ‘Hank, the one with the biceps’. Yet another thing to think about.
Ah, Chad! Lovely Chad! I know I’m in a minority, but I liked Chad. This ofcourse has NOTHING to do with the fact that he looks great without his shirt on and sounds even better (especially if you watch B&S on DVD with headphones on, like me. Boy, that voice vibrates!)I am not that shallow.
He too reminded of Kevin, but more in extremes, I sat through the episodes with a feeling that I either wanted to inflict some serious damage to him for being so terribly self-absorbed or just melt because he does have his good moments.
One of my favorite scenes is after Michelle’s call to Kevin, where he shows up at Kevin’s door and wants to talk to Kevin, who at first doesn’t want him to and then caves in. I like the way they played that scene. At first he is all angry and defensive and then slowly turns around to being more asking for Kevin’s attention - “I get to save Baltimore.â€?
But again I am surprised by the strange turn of events. He decides to come out of the closet because he’s sick and tired of not being himself. He has all these things he wants to do … with Kevin. So he fires his manager (or maybe not?), comes out and breaks up with Kevin… Weird.
Don’t get me wrong. I think that Chad made the right decision. He’s absolutely right when he admits that he’s not in the same place as Kevin and needs to go at his own pace. But within one episode there are 2 very conflicting moments. And I am the only one who feels that Kevin may have been hurt, but also seemed to be relieved that it was over…?
I, however, would still like to know how Chad’s career went and if his fear for his future was a valid one or not.
Oh, and I loved, loved, LOVED!! the fight between Chad and Kevin in their final episode, Kevin really was an a.., but man, Chad deserved it!

And don’t forget utility player Tucker Booth! I ‘m one who would like him to make a cameo appearance at some Walkerpalooza.

Ha! I did forget him, Colleen. He’s sort of a love interest check-up all on his own. Too good for just a question mark, though. If he ever does make a cameo, who’s the Very Special Guest Star for the role? Suggestions?

Casting: my first impulse is to say Chris Noth, but he’s supposed to be blonde, right? So how about Chad Lowe?

Shawn Christian. Tucker may have been bleach blonde then, his hair color might have darkened. He might be bald..
