Five questions: “Something New”

Five questions about last Sunday’s episode, “Something New,” still rattling around in my brain:
1. Who’s going to be Robert’s best man now? His brother Jason’s unavailalble, and as with the Walkers, the guy doesn’t seem to have any actual friends. Will he draft one of the Walker brothers into service? Justin’s the only one he’s bonded with at all, so he’d be the logical choice. It’s either that, or Travis.
2. Was Kitty risking being short a bridesmaid? Sweet to include Julia in the wedding party, but wasn’t she, like, split from your brother and completely incommunicado right up to this very episode? Were they just going to buy an extra dress and put it aside, just in case?
3. Is Nora’s mom really coming to the wedding? She admitted to Stan that her mother would be there, but ABC’s press release for the episode disagrees. Among the guest stars listed are Ken Olin, Danny Glover, Chevy Chase, even Garry Marshall as Major Wiener, but no sign of Marion Ross. Will she be there in name but not in body, referred to but never seen? If so, too bad — her return would make a great setting for Saul’s overdue coming out.
4. How evil is Lena? Is she taking up with Justin to make Tommy jealous? To get back at him for dumping her? Because she likes manipulating men? Because she’s a little nuts? Or, like everybody else on this show, does she just have a very small pool of acquaintances from which to choose romantic partners? It’s actually kind of hard to tell. Still, I would absolutely love to see a scene in which Julia finds out about the affair and squashes her like a bug. We’ve not seen any sign of that kind of backbone in Julia, but how else is she going to react — she’s already gotten mad at Tommy and left him once this season.
5. So what was with that tiny little Lyle Lovett scene, anyway? I’m excited to see him no matter what, but that final scene seemed so tacked on that it really made me wonder how it came about. Did they want to do a grand gesture at the Hollywood Bowl and Lovett just happened to be playing there? Or is he a fan or friend someone in production? Seems there were lots of different ways to do that reconciliation without needing to bring in offbeat singers at all.
