Be a Walker for a day, and broke thereafter
How much would you love to visit the set of Brothers & Sisters? If you’ve got $1,500 and a dream, you can bid on just such an outing through the organization Charity Folks, which matches up entertainment types to good causes and lets us mere mortals bid. The Brothers & Sisters auction includes a day on the set plus lunch with Ron Rifkin in the Special Dining Room at Disney studios. Your extravagance will not only put you in the presence of the cast and creators of the show, but will benefit DreamYard and Urban Ecology Institute, two charities that work to bring awareness of the arts and the environment to schoolchildren. The auction started on November 22, but no one’s bid yet, perhaps because of that $1,500 starting point. You have until December 13 to scrape together the funds. (And even if it’s all too rich for your blood, it’s worth stopping by the auction site to check out the outdated promotional graphic they’re using for the show. Betty Buckley lives!)
